Good little machine

Chipper works very well and I'm happy with it. I should have, however, done some more checking. After placing my order I started to wonder about availability of replacement parts and went to the TMG web site. Wow...I could have bought it directly for TMG for $200 less including free delivery. They also have a slightly larger chipper that is a lot easier to move around. I would have bought the larger one if I knew it was available. Chipper came with a very impressive shipping box. Manual is not the greatest. Way too much emphasis on safety but little about assembly and maintenance. The assembly blowup illustration is tiny and there are no assembly instructions. Assembly, however is simple. The only difficulty is in determining where to bolt the ground wire for the emergency shutoff. I bolted it to a bracket on the engine apparently intended for remote throttle on some other application. Maintenance manual calls for checking knife bolts for tightness before each use but does not specify torque. It calls for periodic lubrication of bearings but then says that bearings are permanently lubricated for life. It also calls for lubrication of the rock and pinion that does not exist on this chipper. TMG web site is silent on replacement parts but the shipping box has a phone number for ordering parts. If you buy this chipper it would be prudent to write that number in the maintenance manual booklet. Overall I'm very happy with this machine. It's a much more serious machine than the **** you can buy from Canadian Tire.

All in all good chipper.

Works longer on a tank of gas than thought, careful to not feed too man branches with leaves or live small branches as it will clog and then its one or both chutes will have to be removed. Out of the box its really ****** that there is know explanation for the unconnected wires. mine had no spark and had to experiment which wires went where to get spark to start it. But now does start easy. Absolutely no decent instructions, I think two pages, and the other 90 pages in other languages. LOL No instructions for clearing clogs, changing belts, (clogs start to smoke the belts) parts lists, or anything very helpful. Does seem to be a rugged little machine. Would give five stars if it had any paper work of use.

Works well

It does the jobs that we needed it for. It doesnt like hardwood but it seems to last a long time on a tank of gas. It works as i expected it too, no regrets.

Fresh cut fir and cedar

Pretty good overall, but can’t handle anything bigger than 1-1/2” diameter and even then it’s best to only feed in short moments and hold back until the engine speed picks up again. Also easy to plug with too much soft green tips of branches. Once I learned how to feed it alternating wood and green to blow it out it seems to work fine. Makes a nice little pile from a huge mess of branches and used it as mulch on fruit trees right away. Looks great. Starts on first pull every time. Wish my lawnmower did that. I like the safety stop bar on the in-chute as it makes it feel safe. Took a couple of minutes to feed it without accidentally triggering the auto stop, but after that it didn’t happen again. I kept a pair of big loppers handy to loop off big stiff side branches. Mostly the whole branch goes in one shot.
